A Touch of Velvet for Fall

I think it’s pretty safe to say that I am on board with all the fall trends I am seeing right now. I love all the neutrals and deep, bold colors, all the footwear and all the textures the season has to offer. I feel like there is something so rich and cozy in the air that only comes in the autumn. And one of my favorite trends I’m seeing? Velvet. Velvet in the autumn/winter isn’t a new trend by any means but there’s something about adding a touch of the rich supple texture here and there that’s just so special and keeps coming up again and again everywhere I look this season.

When I saw this pretty little velvet bow on J. Crew’s website  I could not resist hunting it at my local J. Crew store within days. I’m obsessed with how pretty and dressed up it instantly makes my pony feel and how often I have been wearing a pony just to use this hair tie (and I am a girl who steers clear of pony’s unless my hair is dirty or I am working out). I also have been loving wearing this in early months of autumn since the weather has been so toasty I couldn’t put on too many of my favorite fall pieces. This little velvet bow (even paired with a t-shirt) has given me my fall kick while the weather has not been cooperative. I paired the pretty little thing with one of my favorite nude off-the-shoulder sweaters from Spring. I love the chunky knit and slouchy cool feel of this sweater. The color is so fantastic for fall too, not quite nude, not quite dusty pink – so it doesn’t wash out my olive skin tone. To finish off the look I threw on some black skinny jeans and gorgeous black patent pumps. So simple and such an understated “dressed up” date night look with touches of festive velvet makes it my kinda outfit!

I have a few other velvet goodies up my sleeve for the holiday season that I am just bursting to share with you guys, but for now my little hair bow will have to tide you over until then. 😉

xo, Jules
