Happy Wednesday! Starting it off with a bright and fun little dress I packed with me to our Napa getaway weekend. Now, I’m not typically one for mini dresses but I will make the case for this one: it’s fun, it’s airy, and perfectly loose, making it easy to wear anywhere.
In the past years I used to gravitate towards dresses and skirts and all the girly frills a whole lot more but it seems that over time I have gradually begun to move towards loose summery pants and tops for this time of year. Something about throwing them on and not feeling too done up or girly while running about town or playing with a toddler makes me feel more comfortable. But, man, I was starting to miss an easy one-and-done- dress. A short little thing to throw on during hot days that could go from weekend to date night with just a few accessories… so I started tracking the perfect mini down and lucky for me this BCBG number came through.
Now, although I have been streamlining my closet and trying to always check out the more responsible and ethical brands for my particular wardrobe needs before caving to the regular brands… I sort of stumbled upon this dress and it was just so comfortable with a subtle pattern and pretty sky blue color and fell in love. I know, not exactly the most thought out or conscious purchase but in my defense, I do love it and wear it a lot and it is actually the only dress I’ve added to my closet for the summer.
I’ve worn it for a casual Father’s Day family dinner at our house, a casual 4th of July BBQ with some converse, out running errands with sandals, and now in Napa with light gray suede slide sandals and an oatmeal duster cardi for any wineries with major AC. Between the hot and humid summer days and nights at home and the dry 95 degree heat of northern Cali, this dress has been the perfect summer addition.
We spent the better portion of our day at Round Pond Estate sampling wines, olive oils, and a chef’s pronzo lunch on their massive 2-story veranda and I had plenty of room for all the delicious food and wine. We also toured their incredible vineyard and 2 acre gardens full of organic fruits, veggies, herbs and even chickens. It was quite a sight to behold and experience for all the senses. If you’re heading to Napa, Round Pond needs to be top of your list. It was the best experience we’ve had in our trips out there.
And you can’t beat an easy summer dress packed for all that activity. xo, jules
