Elizabeth Suzann Ella Top

Hi friends, yet another WIWW is upon us! This week I’m talking all about beating the heat, because really can we even think about anything else right now? These days when I open my closet I’m reaching for one of two things: tanks and shorts or breezy dresses. It’s just too hot and humid to think about anything else.

This silk Elizabeth Suzann Ella top has been a favorite go-to that has gotten me through this summer. It’s breezy enough that it won’t feel hot and sticky in the heat of daytime and it’s perfect to layer under things (or wear on its own) for summer evenings. I know Elizabeth Suzann pieces are pricey but I’m here to tell you they’re so worth it. (Disclaimer: these photos are from before I realized just how much I dislike these shorts, if you missed that post I discussed them here in my Summer 10×10 recap.)

I purchased the Ella tank in rust far in advance of summer after scouring the inter webs and stores for a similar cropped tank in this gorgeous color and coming up empty handed. Eventually I bit the bullet and made the big purchase and then I waited the agonizing 6 weeks while the top was made to order and shipped. And it has been so worth it. This top is perfect you guys. I’ve dressed it up, I’ve dressed it down, I’ve rolled it into my suitcase and layered it under things and even washed it and it’s still as beautiful as the day I peeled back the tissue paper in the box.

I love the gorgeous color which is like a mix between a warm brick red and maroon, not too deep and moody for summer but not too warm to continue wearing into fall. And I love the cut and length. It’s a nice double scoop neck with the back dipping a little deeper- although you could wear the deeper scoop in the front if you wanted. And the cropped length is perfect for high rise jeans, pants and shorts. Occasionally when my bottoms are more of a mid-rise I have tucked the front in to keep it secure. It pairs perfectly with black, white, off white, all denim shades and various beiges and grays. Not to mention I love adding a pretty turquoise, peach or sky blue accessory here and there for fun. And it layers under things perfectly. I’m looking forward to taking it into the fall and layering it with moody dark tones and rich browns.

If you aren’t familiar with Elizabeth Suzann it is a clothing company designed and founded by Liz, who creates gorgeous pieces that are mindful, elegant, comfortable, and long-lasting all while keeping a strong focus on careful consumption, reducing waste and a respect for the environment and all those living in it. Her pieces are all locally designed and created in her Nashville Studio with meticulous attention to detail using only the highest quality, natural fiber cloth. Every piece from her brand can be worn multiple ways and for multiple seasons and years to come. They are truly worthy of adding to your wardrobe. I’ve lost count of how many times I have reached for and worn my Ella top over the last few months since its arrival, it’s one of my favorite effortless pieces in my closet.
